Library Clerk

The Library Clerk performs a wide variety of general library work in public and/or technical service areas to assist with daily library operations, including basic reference, cataloging, and circulation tasks; utilizes and assists with copiers and other library equipment; performs related duties as assigned. The selected candidate will subscribe to and support our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability.
- This position is non-exempt.
- The starting salary for this position is $12.36/hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor library entrance, exit, user spaces, and other assigned spaces within the facility
- Perform basic safety and security checks, reporting any incidents or issues according to procedure
- Check items in and out of the collection and properly shelve
- Assist with processing reserve items, new acquisitions, and repair of materials as needed
- Provide basic reference service, make appropriate referrals, and respond to policy questions
- Record attendance and reference statistics
- Replenish copier paper and toner; troubleshoot and report copier and other equipment issues
- Complete opening or closing procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills:
- Basic word processing and data entry skills
- Ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products
- Ability to learn and use basic EOSi Integrated Library System circulation and cataloging functions
- Ability to foster an atmosphere of collegiality and provide friendly service to students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to recognize and resolve minor issues with copiers and other library equipment/technology
- Ability to lift 25 lbs, maneuver book carts, and shelve books
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions related to computer use, phone use, and office and library software
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six months of library clerical experience or educational equivalent
Note: Applicants must currently be authorized to lawfully work in the United States on a full-time basis.
